A Numerical Modeling Framework for Cohesive Sediment Transport Driven by Waves and Tidal Currents
نویسنده
چکیده
1. Developing a 3D turbulence-resolving numerical model for fine sediment transport in the oscillatory boundary layer in order to understand how turbulencesediment interactions can determine the state of muddy seabed (transport modes). 2. Studying the attenuation of turbulence due to the presence of sediment via the interplay between sediment-induced density stratification and enhanced viscosity (rheological stress). 3. Extending the existing turbulence-resolving numerical study to coarser grain (sand) and poly-dispersed (e.g., size, density and shape) transport based on fourway-coupled Eulerian and Euler-Lagrangian numerical frameworks.

The Deschutes Estuary Restoration Feasibility Study: development of a process-based morphological model
Continual sediment accumulation in Capitol Lake since the damming of the Deschutes River in 1951 has altered the initial morphology of the basin. As part of the Deschutes River Estuary Restoration Feasibility Study, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) is modeling how tidal and storm processes will influence the river, lake and lower Budd Inlet should estuary restoration occur. Understand...

متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Surface and Near Bottom Currents in the Bushehr Bay
Bushehr Bay is situated along the northern Iranian coasts of the Persian Gulf, between 28°52΄ and 29°5΄ north latitude and 50°42΄ and 50°52΄east longitude. In this study COHERENS, which is a threedimensional hydrodynamic model, was employed to simulate surface and under surface currents in the Bushehr Bay. The atmospheric forces and four main tidal constituents M2, S2, K1, O1 and also boundary ...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Oil Slick Spread in the Persian Gulf
An oil spill model coupled with a hydrodynamic model was developed to simulate the spread of oil slick in real marine conditions considering the effects of tidal currents, wind and wave. The hydrodynamic model is verified using the measurements of tidal elevations and current speeds at the Persian Gulf. Effect of various governing factors on oil slick movement, tidal currents, wind and wave, ar...
